Thyme and smoked cheddar cheese make this a biscuit to remember.

Quick Facts

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Bake Time: 20 to 25 minutes
Yield: 12 biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 teaspoon Argo® Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons leaf thyme
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded smoked white cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chives
  • 3/4 cup butter, slightly softened
  • 1-1/4 cups buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

Blend together flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, thyme and poultry seasoning in a large bowl. Stir in cheese and chives. Cut in butter until only small pieces remain. Add buttermilk; stir just until moistened.

Turn out on lightly floured surface. Knead dough 5 to 6 times, just until dough holds together. Gently pat or roll into an 8 by 8-inch square. Cut into 12 pieces. Place on lightly greased baking sheet about 1-inch apart. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until biscuits are lightly browned.

Serve hot from the oven with butter. Or, cool for 15 minutes, slice and top with roast turkey and cranberry sauce for a delightful sandwich.
