Cheese Biscuits

Excellent with soup!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Argo® Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter OR margarine
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seed
  • 1 teaspoon whole white sesame seed

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

    Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.  Cut in butter using a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture resembles fine crumbs.  Add cheese and mix well.  Stir in milk, mixing until dry ingredients are moistened. 

    Pat dough out on a lightly floured surface to a 6-inch square.  Cut into 3 x 2-inch recatangular biscuits using a sharp knife, and place on ungreased baking sheet. 

    Bake in center of oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly browned.
