Since the late 1800's, corn starch has been
manufactured under the Argo® and Kingsford's®
brand names by a predecessor.
While Kingsford's is still available in some parts
of the country, Argo has become the largest
selling brand of corn starch in the U.S.
A nearly flavorless thickener, Argo and Kingsford's
corn starch allow the natural flavor of the food to
come through and have been trusted names in
corn starch for over a century.

Argo® and Kingsford's® Corn Starch were
traditionally sold for industrial use. Around the 1850's Thomas Kingsford
developed a modification in the process of extracting the starch from the
corn kernel, making it possible to produce a high-grade corn starch for
food use. A naturally occurring carbohydrate found in corn kernels, corn
starch can be used as a thickener for smooth gravies, sauces, glazes,
soups, stews and casseroles. It is also a foolproof thickener in pies,
puddings, custards and cake fillings. This naturally odorless, vegetable
powder also has many uses as an inexpensive household and beauty
aid and is also gluten-free, making it the perfect substitute in cooking
and baking when flour and other glutinous starches must be avoided.
Argo® Corn Starch is available nationwide in supermarkets and select mass-merchandise
stores and wholesale clubs in 1 pound boxes.
Kingsford's® Corn Starch is available regionally in Philadelphia, Southern
California, Northern California, Hawaii and Denver in supermarketsand select mass-
merchandise stores and wholesale clubs in 1 pound boxes.
